Eligibility & Submission Rules
Background
These scholarships are to financially assist students in the three schools of architecture in Quebec, and to perpetuate the memory of Bernard Jodoin, FIRAC. The scholarships are funded by a generous gift from Mrs. Gisèle B. Jodoin.
Bernard Jodoin founded the firm of Jodoin, Lamarre, Pratte et associes in 1958. He presided over the Organizing Committee of the Order of Architects of Quebec and was one of the founders of the Association of Architects in Private Practice in Quebec. Mr. Jodoin was a member of the National Research Council in Ottawa, a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and a recipient, posthumously, of the Medal of Merit of the Order of Architects of Quebec.
Eligibility
Schools have the option to award this scholarship at either the undergraduate or Masters level. To be eligible, applicants must have successfully completed two years of their degree program and be registered for full time studies in the following year.
Amount
The annual amount for each of the three scholarships may vary based on the growth of the endowment fund but has been approximately $2500 per school per year.
Selection Criteria
The scholarship will be awarded on the basis of the following criteria:
- Academic record and statement of academic and career goals;
- Assessment of the candidate’s financial need.
Submission Requirements
Applicants must submit the following documents to their faculty:
- A curriculum vitae (maximum 2 pages);
- A letter that outlines their academic and career goals (maximum one page);
- A short text explaining their need for financial assistance (maximum 300 words).
Adjudication
Each School of Architecture is responsible for forming a selection committee to review applications and, based on the above criteria, choose its recipient for the year.
Deadline
The submission deadline will be determined by the school.
